The Centre for Interdisciplinary Voice Studies hosted an event on the theme of ‘Interdisciplinary Performance Practice: New Directions in Opera’ on Friday 29 August, in Eldon Building, University of Portsmouth. Our invited speaker was Dr Experience Bryon and the event was chaired by CIVS co-convenor Dr Konstantinos Thomaidis.
Dr Bryon outlined the key tenets of her methodology, Integrative Performance Practice, and unpacked her latest research as encapsulated in her recent book Integrative Performance: Practice and Theory for the Interdisciplinary Performer (Routledge 2014).
The thought-provoking presentation was followed by a discussion between Alita Mills, Dr Marius Kwint, Colin Jagger, Matt Smith, Laura Doye, Sarah Eaton, Laura Vorwerg, and CIVS convenors, Amanda Smallbone, Dr Ben Macpherson and Dr Konstantinos Thomaidis.
We wish to thank Deborah Shaw, Sarah Eaton and CCI for supporting the event through the Research Accelerator Fund, Imogen Jeffery and Jackie Walker for admin support, and Gregory Smith for technical support on the day and documentation of the event.
